Domain of Fourn 

In Quebec, we receive at the good Blanquette!

In 1937, Pierre Robert moved to the Domaine de Fourn. At that time, he cultivated 1.5 ha of Mauzac, the traditional grape variety of the Limoux region, on a clay-stony soil. In 1957, the two sons, Jean-Pierre and Auguste decided to stay on the family farm and continued to increase the areas planted in AOC and marketing.  

 

Currently, the sons of Jean-Pierre, Jean-Luc and Bernard cultivate 38 ha of vines, mainly in AOC and produce 4 appellations of Limoux: Blanquette de Limoux, Crémant de Limoux, Blanquette Méthode Ancestrale and Limoux. And it is the daughters Mélanie and Lucille who continue the family history today!

 

The Domaine de Fourn markets 65% of its production for export, it is the largest private estate that produces and vinifies sparkling wine according to the traditional method in its deep cellars.

Our story with the Robert Family

Blanquette de Limoux from Domaine de Fourn was the first product marketed in the SAQ by Vinconseil in the early 1980s!  

​

This is the story of two families who have evolved together for 30 years. The younger generation is now taking over the business on either side of the ocean!

​

For Géraldine and Anne Julie, thinking of the Roberts is like thinking of those vacations at the estate, when we were still very young, near the fig trees and the domestic donkey (!)

A little anecdote to share with friends

​

Did you know that Limoux blanquette is the oldest sparkling wine in the world? 

We know that in 1531, the monks of the Abbey of Saint-Hilaire were already producing the ancestor of the Limoux blanquette. 

It was only in 1938, 407 years later, that the Blanquette was officially recognized as an Appellation d'Origine Contrôlée.
